TYING A BOWLINE
The bowline is one of the most common knots in scuba diving. It is used for forming a fixed loop at the end of a line, which makes it good for tying to moorings or lift bags. It is one of the three knots all divers should know. It is easy to tie and is very sturdy, but also easy to untie, as it generally doesn't pull it's self tighter.
When we're working with rope there are only two real terms you need to know. The working end of the rope is the end your tying up, and the standing part is the end that is fixed or under tension. So if we're talking about a line we're tying to a mooring buoy, the part of the line that is attached to the boat is the standing part, and the working end is the area that is free to tie our knot.

To start, we take a rope, and make a loop with the working end on top.
Then, bring the working end under the loop.

Bring the working end around the back of the standing part and back down through the loop.
Pull the working end tight to tighten the knot.
